Baseball Cheaters: Another one bites the dust

Should the Boston Red Sox have an asterisk engraved on their 2004 and 2007 World Series rings? The New York Times has reported that Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz both tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003.

Ramirez, now a member of the Dodgers, just recently served a 50-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s drug policy. At the time, Ramirez said, “I do want to say one other thing. I’ve taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons.”

The big, jolly, smiling, teddy bear Boston fans affectionately refer to as “Big Papi” was saddened when he learned of Ramirez’s suspension back in May. Ortiz said, “You don’t want nobody to be involved in situations like this.”

Of course not…especially when one of those people is YOU!

When asked about the 2003 drug test today in Boston, Ortiz replied, “I don’t want to talk about that anymore. I have no comment.”

Ortiz had comments during spring training when asked about players testing positive for steroids. He said they should be suspended for an entire season.

For all the fans that love “Big Papi”, he is a liar and a cheater…just like Ramirez.
